On the sidelines of UNGA80, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) hosted a high-level session, Advancing a Just Energy Transition through 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy, during the SDG7 Action Forum convened by UN-DESA. The event united policymakers, corporate leaders, and innovators to discuss how hourly clean energy procurement can drive equity and shared prosperity. SEforALL launched two key reports highlighting USD 1.6 trillion committed toward renewable energy and access. Together, these efforts showcase how Energy Compact proponents are turning ambition into action and laying the groundwork for a just, inclusive, and carbon-free energy future.

On the sidelines of UNGA80, Sustainable Energy for All hosted a high-level session, Advancing a Just Energy Transition through 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy, as part of the SDG7 Action Forum convened by UN-DESA. The event brought together policymakers, corporate leaders, and innovators to explore how local and hourly clean energy procurement can drive equity, resilience, and shared prosperity. Anchored in the principles of the Just and Inclusive Energy Transition (JIET) Compact, the dialogue emphasized that clean energy transitions must be inclusive and community-centered, ensuring that the benefits of decarbonization reach all regions and populations.

SEforALL launched its new Report: Advancing the Just Energy Transition through Clean Energy Procurement, which provides actionable guidance for governments, companies, and communities on ensuring clean energy delivers inclusive prosperity. In parallel, SEforALL launched the 2025 Energy Compacts Annual Progress Report, which documents significant momentum toward SDG7. Since 2021, over 209 proponents have committed a total of USD 1.6 trillion to expand renewable energy and energy access, with USD 284 billion already mobilized. The 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy Compact continues to advance rapidly; enabling 944 TWh of carbon-free power to date, with 59 percent delivered through support services.

Together, these efforts underscore how Energy Compact proponents are translating ambition into action and building the foundation for a sustainable, equitable energy future. SEforALL will host a series of webinars in the coming weeks to dive deeper into the findings of both reports. Stay tuned.
The 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy Compact is a movement of countries and organizations driven by an understanding that energy must provide for both people and the planet. It is a motivated community already demonstrating that the way we power our cities and countries can become a positive force for everyone.
Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030, but the world is not on track. The solution? Ensuring that technological advances are able to provide reliable and modern energy to meet demand through the adoption of 24/7 carbon-free energy technologies and solutions. Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All and Co-Chair of UN-Energy, explores.
