Google became operationally carbon neutral in 2007 and, in 2017, the first company of its size to match 100% of its global, annual electricity consumption with renewable energy. Google is now on a path to decarbonize its electricity supply completely to operate on 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy, everywhere, by 2030 and, alongside SEforALL, launched the 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy Compact in 2021.
As a 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy Compact Signatory, Greenko is working to develop and scale technologies, support energy policies, improve procurement practices, and provide solutions to transform India’s energy system and enable rapid, cost-effective Carbon Free Energy.
In 2021, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) worked with a coalition of energy buyers, energy suppliers, governments, system operators, solutions providers, investors and other organizations to develop a commitment to 24/7 CFE, announced as an Energy Compact commitment to the United Nations. By joining the 24/7 CFE Energy Compact, companies can share innovative tools and solutions with other members in support of their carbon-free energy journey.
Stanford University’s 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) Initiative helps institutions to decarbonize their operations by electrifying their assets and coordinating their operation to reduce emissions, electric infrastructure impacts, power and operational costs while increasing resilience during extreme events.
