Alongside signing the 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy Compact, EnergyTag has recently launched an initiative to define and build a market for Granular Certificates that enable consumers to choose the source of their electricity consumption in each hour of the day. The EnergyTag Initiative is an independent, non-profit, industry-led initiative that will help clean energy buyers access, track, and certify 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy.
"By establishing Granular Certificates as a recognised, tradeable instrument we can harness consumer demand for 24/7 carbon free energy to create a price signal that drives investment in the technologies needed to reach a carbon-free grid faster, like renewables and storage. The Carbon Free Energy Compact is playing a critical and central role in driving this consumer demand, so we are totally aligned!"

The EnergyTag Initiative is an independent, non-profit, industry-led initiative to define and build a market for Granular Certificates which enable energy users to verify the source of their electricity and carbon emissions in each hour of the day. Since joining the 24/7 Carbon Free Energy Compact, EnergyTag has published the Granular Certificate Scheme Standard which provides the first version of the criteria that those implementing Granular Certificate Schemes need to meet in order to prove, through a third party audit, that they are compliant with the EnergyTag Standard.
In today’s world, reliable and granular energy and emissions data is the new gold, empowering energy and sustainability teams to navigate heightened scrutiny in carbon accounting methodologies. Hence, CFE Suite is FlexiDAO’s solution as data-backed carbon-free energy solutions and advisory services.
The 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy Compact contributes to Panama’s existing Energy Compact commitments such as Biomass and Waste Utilization, Innovation Contests to Promote SDG7 and Renewable Energy for Latin America & the Caribbean.
As a 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy Compact signatory, Sunshine Hydro works on making renewable energy continuously available and commercially viable through the delivery of 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy, powering industry and energy networks. This also includes tools such as Sunshine Hydro’s AESOP technology and Superhybrid innovation.
Kenya is contributing to the 24/7 CFE Compact through its energy policies and long-term development plans that are focused on promoting the use of a wide range of renewable energy sources, distributed generation to attain universal electrification, and increasing the uptake of electric mobility. The country demonstrates potential to base a significant proportion of its economic growth on carbon-free energy, setting an example for other countries to follow on the low-carbon pathway.
